Cytavision Network ArchitecturePrint Version

The network architecture can be seen below (Figure 4). The network consists of the Digital Head-end, the Backbone and the network at the customer premises.

The Digital Head-end receives live programs from satellite and decodes them. It consists of:

Receivers-Decoders-Descramblers:
These Decode and descramble the video signal received from different sources.

Digital video IP streamers:
These encapsulate MPEG-2 streams over IP to send over the telecom network.

Video Server:
It is where all the movies are stored for Video on Demand.

Digital Rights Management and Conditional Access(CA):
The conditional access guaranties the safety of content from the head-end to the STB by using scrambling algorithm.

The Backbone consists of IP or ATM nodes.
The network at the customer premises consists of:

  • Splitter
  • Modem
  • Wiring
  • Set-Top-Box and TV

The Set-Top-Box (STB) is connected to the ADSL modem and to the TV. The STB decodes the MPEG signal that is received from the ATM packets to PAL TV format. It supports IP (i.e. IGMP, TCP, UDP, etc.) HTML and Java.

After the necessary wiring is done by the customer (Installation Instructions), the following equipment will be installed at the customer:

  • ADSL modem (multiple 10BaseT interface ports)
  • Splitter/Filters
  • Set-Top-Box
  • Remote control
  • Wireless keyboard
  • Security card
