Set-Top Box Connection Instructions Print Version

Figure 6 Set-Top Box connection
Figure 1 Set-Top Box connection

The Set-Top Box is connected to the TV using a mini-Din cable. Due to the existence of different kinds of video connectors, the connection cable differs on the end according to the available video input of the TV. In other words the connection cable has on the one end a mini-Din connector and on the other the available connector of the TV. On the TV AV input must be selected.

The connection cables are:

SCART óå SCART   Mini-Din to SCART
If the Av input of the TV is scart then the suitable connection cable is mini-Din to scart.
The figure on the left shows a mini-Din to scart cable
SCART óå S-Video   Mini-Din to Composite and S-Video
If the Av input of the TV is S-Video then the suitable connection cable is scart to S-Video. It should be noted that the stereo audio signal must be connected to the TV using RCA connectors.
The figure on the left shows a scart to S-Video cable.

Connecting the Set-Top Box to additional devices

In the case in which the Television has only one scart input, then the RF input of the Set-Top Box can be used for the connection of an additional device (Figure 2).

Figure 2 Connection for additional device

If a second additional device is to be connected (e.g. DVD), then it should be directly connected to one of the AV input of the TV ( Figure 3).

Taking miVision service to more than one TV set

In the case in which the customer has a television network, it is possible to split the service to all television sets. This is achieved using the RF input and output of the STB.

Figure 4 shows the connection of the Set-Top Box with the primary and multiple secondary TV sets

Figure 9 Connection to more than one TV
Figure 4 Connection to more than one TV
Note: The secondary TV sets will show the same program as the primary TV

The primary TV (the one that is in the same room with the Set-Top Box) is connected directly using a scart cable.

It should be noted that the video and audio quality of the primary television will be better than the rest of the TV sets because it is connected with a scart cable. It should be noted also that when selecting the miVision service from any television, they will display the same program with the primary television.

Technical specification of the Amino Set-Top Box

The Amino Set-Top Box has 2 RF sockets; the one is used as output for the TV and the other as an input for an auxiliary device such as VCR or antenna. The mini-Din socket supports PAL –M/B/D/G/H/I, RGB, S-Video and composite video. There is also an output for digital sound (AC3) that can be connected to an audio amplifier/decoder S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) . There is one USB port for the connection of joystick, game pad or other controllers for future games on demand services. There is a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet connector (RJ45) for connection to the DSL modem. Finally there is a 5 volts DC power supply socket.
The following figure ( Figure 1 ) shows the position of the sockets.
